In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria . The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria . The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. Isaiah 19:23
Greetings in the name of He who saved us, Our Lord and Savoir Jesus The Christ. In the month of Nissan, we as a nation of the Assyrian decent celebrate the New Year, the beginning of life. This tradition has been handed down to us for thousands of generations from our ancestors. How wise they were. Learning from the creation and emulating it. They would celebrate religiously and socially for twelve days. From the king to the youngest child, all would submit and praise the Creator while rejoicing in His creation. What must we learn from them?
I call upon the new generation of today to revolt inwardly, challenging ourselves to build a better tomorrow by educating ourselves not only with the knowledge needed to sustain our life as individuals but also to bring life to a dying nation.
As one of the smallest nations in the world we face the possibility of extinction. What must we do to eliminate this possibility? Invest in our future, our children, the Assyria of tomorrow. Just as our fathers invested with their own life for our survival, the struggle must continue. This year we celebrate 6758 years of existence. The last 2,600 years, we have lived in persecutions and misery. Even today the children of Ashur are unjustly dying in the land of Ashur . How can this agony be accepted?
Disunity, blame, selfishness, and pride are not the answer. It is these malicious acts that have kept us from having a united front, a leadership that can lead us as a nation, a think tank that can plan a future of hope and victory. Only when we rid ourselves of these kinds of unpleasant acts we will be able to truly celebrate the Assyrian New Year. Until then it is just another party and khiga for everyone.
