Dear Friends,

This is a time for spiritual rejuvenation and personal transformation, a time to recharge and rededicate ourselves to spreading the Word of God on earth.

Pray with us and reaffirm your commitment to our risen Lord, Jesus Christ, whose innocent blood was shed for our sakes. And while even our greatest efforts cannot rival the ultimate sacrifice made on our behalves by Jesus, we must always try to follow the example of our beloved Savior.

Love Will Never Fail

Dear Lord, we pray that on this Valentine’s Day we may remember the true meaning of love as expressed in the Bible.Heavenly Father, we pray the message of the verse often recited at many weddings inspires us to express love in all that we do for our fellow man.

"Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn't selfish or quick tempered. It doesn't keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. Love never fails!"                                - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

May we never fail to praise God who so loved us, he gave his only son so that the faithful may have eternal life               Amen

A Letter From Parish Priest

Written by Rev. George Bet Rasho

Dearest in Christ,

Prayers and Blessing receive, “Grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:2-6:

In this month of September many of us will be sending our children to schools for education. I pray that our Heavenly Father will help encourage and protect every child by his mercy and grace. I encourage each and every parent to be involved and always participate in the activities concerning their childs education. But let us not forget the religions education of our children. Through baptism our children received their spiritual body, and this body just like the physical body needs nourishment. We tend to forget the spiritual part mainly focus on the physical part and so our children grow physically and become wise through education with the secular world we live in, but either die spiritually or have very little growth depending on the spiritual nourishment they have received. Let us carefully consider what our children need most. I believe you would agree with me by having Jesus in the center of their life, our children would have the strength and wisdom, to accomplish all that is needed for a life full of peace and joy. Let us analyze the time our children spend learning about their savior. Is it enough?

I pray that he who had saved us will watch, protect, preserve, and guide us through our actions and give us the strength to offer ourselves to Him as a Holy and acceptable sacrifice. God Bless us all.

In His Service,

Father George Bet Rasho

To commemorate His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV Catholicos' 50th annivarsary in the priesthood, hundreds of Assyrians gathered in Los Angeles last week for a Golden Jubilee celebration that included special prayers, songs, and a banquet.

His Holiness arrived in Los Angeles Friday, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Mar Aprim Khamis, special assistants Arch Deacon Younan Younan from London, and Father Paul Benjamin.  They were greeted by Father George Bet Rasho, President of St. Mary's Church council David Dizayer, Chairman of the board of advisors Charles Begini, Deacon Walodia Gewargis, and other parish members.

Hundreds of parishioners gathered before services at St. Mary's Assyrian Church of the East on Sunday as His Holiness arrived, to greet him with songs. The Holy Mass service was full to capacity with people waiting outside to enter. In addition, the service included the ordination of deacons Rameil Eaywazi and Maroun Eyvazzadeh, and reader Antoni Eshoie.

Later that evening, His Holiness was greeted again by hundreds who cheered and waved the Assyrian flag in his honor.   The dinner banquet not only commemorated His Holiness'  50th anniversary in the priesthood, but also his  31st anniversary of his consecration to the Holy See of Catholicos Patriarch of the East.
